Welcome to Nightingale Trust

Who We Are:

The Nightingale Trust home care training and service centre is a faith-based, Non-Profit and Public Benefit Organisation situated in Central, Port Elizabeth.

Nightingale Trust has two main focuses:

Training:

We enjoy full accreditation with the Health and Welfare SETA (HWSETA) for the qualification National Certificate: Community Health Work (SAQA ID: 64749) (NQF Level 2).

We have registered a number of skills programmes, to allow learners to focus on certain aspects of the Community Health Work qualification.

The skills programmes encompass:

  • Home Based Care
  • HIV, AIDS, Sexually Transmitted Infections and Tuberculosis
  • Palliative care
  • Primary Health Care
  • Life Skills

Our main focus remains on training in Home Based Care. This course focuses on providing learners with a comprehensive skills set to assist them in finding employment as care givers.

In November 2012, the Nightingale Care Trust was registered. This organisation provides for the placement of trained Home Care-givers with private clients, providing a flexible and reliable service in the comfort of their own home.

Community Outreach:

The Eluthandweni Support and Information Centre is our community outreach project in Steve Tshwete Village, Motherwell. It provides a free service to those in need.

Management And Staff:

Both Nightingale Trust and Nightingale Care Trust is governed by a Board of Trustees. The four trustees were appointed in terms of the respective Deeds of Trust, and hold quarterly meetings.

The daily operations fall under the supervision of a manager. The remainder of the staff component for the two organisations combined includes:

  • Administrator
  • Assessors registered with the HWSETA
  • Moderator registered with the HWSETA
  • Registered Nurses: Care Service
  • Registered Nurse: Community Outreach
  • Pool of trained care givers
